Here are a pics of a few salads I’ve made. As I said, literally every thing in the fridge.
I always try to have something sweet
Something crunchy
A seasoning- cheese is my fave but it depends on what kind of salad. Feta cheese, Parmesan, blue cheese or goats cheese
Vary in texture, salad is never just about leaves.
Steamed Green beans, carrots
beets
firm dessert pears (grilled)
Apples chopped into match sticks for crunch
I like something pickled or briny (olives or capers)
Onions-Grilled, fresh sliced or pickled
Roasted cherry tomatoes
Fire roasted red bell peppers a favourite, you can roast them on the flame on the stove. Makes them super sweet and cooks them all the way through with a slight Smokey taste.
Grilled zucchini
Steamed or grilled broccoli
A herb of some kind mint or cilantro
Spinach, arugula or whatever leaves you have can go in last
I make a lemon vinaigrette as standard as it’s way healthier than shop bought 6 ingredients if you count salt and pepper
And of course a protein of your choice.
