Yup!!! Which is why people believe Beyonce and her team are sabataging Chloe's career.. Never understood why Chloe and Halle weren't packaged the way Brandy and Monica were in the 90's.. I remember being so confused when that "Have Mercy" video came out lol.

Maybe that's the problem, that she's not "packaged". It seems like she has control of her sound, public image, etc., and Beyonce's team is there as a facilitator to her career choices as far as getting her content out. So whether or not her career takes off or not, the accountability falls on her.

I wonder has anyone had "the talk" with her yet about her choices and her career trajectory, or is she surrounded by yesmen that :usure: behind her back.

Subscription TV network that produces wild reality shows. Think Flavor of love but the show is 100x more ignorant.

There was Tokyo Toni’s (Blac Chyna’s hideous mother) show where she looks for love. A basic copy of Flavor of love

The first episode when they introduced the men that would be competing she gave them nicknames. One guy there was swole so she gave him the name “Big Nig*er”.

How the fukk the producers let that ride… idk but they spent the entire season referring to him as Big Nig*er.

Other stuff like that that makes for good social media clips.

People subscribe to that shyt like it’s HBO or does it come with certain packages? I’ve never heard of Zeus Network before.

That’s the truth. The data doesn’t lie and we see it and don’t want to admit it. That’s why the Power is one of our most watched shows. That’s why reality tv shows and the starts become top and most watched. That’s why shaderoom is a legitimate news platform for us. This is what the average/the masses of us support. It took me a long time to realize it because I was hopeful that if we got a chance to make new things, things that were outside of the box we were put in, we would support but the numbers don’t lie. We don’t.

Many will say we want something new or of quality but the data shows that we don’t. Whether we like it or not, that’s why the data game is so important to these social media companies and businesses. We can say what we want all day long but they have the data to prove we are doing the opposite of what we say. Which allows them to keep churning out the same garbage and telling these artists to put out certain music because the numbers show the average consumers gravitate towards this. It sucks but I’m willing to bet it’s more true than false.

Yep

Alicia Keys was doin Bey numbers at her peak. There has been a shift

Look at HER who like Alicia has the Clive Davis machine pushing her. Ella Mai. They have hits but they arent moving units like a Summer Walker

Really most music acts are underperforming... especially black acts and if u aren't hiphop adjacent

People are apathetic to shyt now because we've seen everything. Every now and then something will create an initial spike, then it'll fade basically as quickly.

I think some legacy artists that have respect like Metro, Future, etc. who are known to generate good music will fare well, but newer artists have it tough even if they have decent music. The next wave of artists have it tough because it's too easy imo.

Even last decade in order to hear something you had to go through some effort: you either buy the album or go through the trouble of bootlegging it and finding a download link. After going through the trouble you may as well listen to it and find what you like.

Now with streaming, the album is straight up dropped right to your feed when it releases, but the listener having done no work to get it nor spend any money for it specifically doesn't bother to give it a listen if they ain't a diehard fan of the artist in the first place.

It's crazy how much of a household name they are, but can't hit with the music. The music is about on par with everything else out there, so to only do 10k means they ain't connecting and that post I think sums it up.

They had the cosign from Beyonce and everything.

People don't got a problem with "classy" or think it's boring, if anything you're basically held to the highest of regard/responsibilities in the art if you take on that role.

That's the problem here: I think they were too young to be placed on that perch. No track record to garner the respect and too young to realize the dangers of chasing clout for their career.

I think Normani would've been perfect for that role instead (talent is there, personality seems more authentic, etc) but she just took too long to release music.

Normani's issue I think is the same as Flo Milli. Colorism. Because they're both talented in their respective genres they just don't get the interest because of their skin color from the color struck clowns in the community.

Also in a world where Cardi B and Meg are successful when they don't have much talent at all Chloe can be successful , but the problem is that she just needs to find the right sound. Because the debate about the different communities may not even matter that much. People just want something that they can dance to.

And her lane is probably R&B like Ashanti, HER, etc...she just doesn't want to do it because she thinks it's corny and wants to do ratchet nonsense, but Meg, Cardi, Glorilla, etc..already occupy that and do it better.

The bolded I think as well, plus she's very proud of who she is, favors being more traditional and probably doesn't want to play as many of the other political games the others play.

I honestly think a part of why she doesn't get the mega push is because she's not willing to sell out 100%.

The context of the discussion was why isn’t there a black Taylor Swift out here on that level

You mean Beyonce? Because Taylor is basically the leader of millions of white women just like Bey is for Black women. Also that framing was odd because Taylor is basically the white Beyonce.

Brandy and Taylor’s music is more wholesome compared to Beyoncé’s

It’s a stand alone subscription that has its own app you download for firestick or whatever.

The barbershop I went to shared a space with a salon so this shyt was always on in the waiting area. Just ratchet shyt nonstop

The context of the original thread was why isn't there a black Taylor Swift out here and there is some truth to the matter in that the fan base just isn't there to get them to that level. Look at someone like HER who is a critical darling, but just hasn't blown up like that even with the type of music that'd appease her fan base.
Black women don’t want a black Taylor swift that’s why
