I got you.

Again, this is a bad comparison. I’m not even some huge LeBron fan, but you’re talking about a guy who’s been a billionaire with a mic in his face basically every day of his adult life. If he gets a little sassy sometimes, that’s the cost of living under a microscope for 20+ years.

The bigger point: he’s a billionaire with no real public scandals, raising his kids and leveraging the access he has. That’s not unique to him. Sports is full of legacy pipelines. Curry, Griffey, Kobe, Klay, Shanahan, McVay, Luke Walton, Austin Rivers, GP2 and hundreds of others all benefited from proximity and opportunity through their fathers. That doesn’t mean they didn’t have to perform, but let’s not pretend those doors open equally for everyone. Comparing that to some “overcompensation from not having a father” psych analysis is a reach.

And yeah, Bronny getting drafted to play with LeBron is fair to critique. I didn’t love that at all either. But let’s keep the same energy across the board. In the NFL alone there have been dozens of father-son coaching pipelines where the first job came directly from dad; coaches need to perform too. In the NBA there are several also. Legacy access in sports and business is normal. For some reason, when a Black player does it publicly, it suddenly becomes a character study. That double standard is what people are reacting to.

There are 10,000 other fatherless problems to pick at; and hear me... I DON'T LIKE that LeBron did it, BUT I suspect buddy doesn't even LIKE LeBron which is probably what's driving why he made this whole video. People ALWAYS move the goalposts for black folks and the shame of it is, some of it be your own people.

You make valid points all I’m saying is when you take into context he didn’t grow up with a father it helps explain some of his behavior.

Its ok to like Kobe. Its ok to not like Bron. Its not ok to make stuff up as the basis for this...at least thats how my pops raised me :mjpls:

This is absolutely not true. Take a look at what was actually said and done by these people and not the mythology.

Its plenty of hoe ass nikkas (not saying Mike or his son are/were) with daddies. Dude is projecting. Straight told on himself with the "you should be leading us" comment. nikka is actually a stan :mjlol:

Bron definitely appears to care more about what other people think than Jordan or Kobe did. His former teammates have even mentioned how he cared, especially earlier in his career (around 4 min mark of video). And yeah the distinction should be made that having a good father makes a difference. Look at Ja Morant and Tory Lanez, both of them have immature fathers and they themselves are immature.

I am talking about what they said and did. Mike said "I would love to try to make James Worthy better" when asked about making teammates better like Magic. nikka stopped dealing with SI over "Bag it Michael". Stopped being friends with Barkley over criticism. Kobe out his own mouth said he got away from Shaq because of what people were saying about his rings with him. This is after lying about it on multiple TV shows during an impromptu press run in response to catching heat after the break-up. Cussed Barkley out for criticizing his play. And neither was subject to the level of scrutiny that Bron was and still is.

I’m talking about Bron seeming to care more about what strangers who follow basketball think. Same applies to KD. In regards to Kobe, he talked about overhearing Shaq himself saying that Kobe needed him to win rings as what started the fracture in the relationship.

Give examples of this behavior you’re talking about

I posted video with Eddie Curry talking about Bron being hurt by strangers telling him he sucked. And Bron himself has said he was hurt by Dan Gilbert’s public letter after he left Cleveland in 2010. I don’t know why this is so surprising, if one of my parents abandoned me as a child I probably wouldn’t have the same level of self confidence that they instilled from an early age.

And I just pointed out how Kobe and Mike had their own issues in that regard. I am not saying Bron does or doesn't, merely pointing to public things that fly in the face of the mythology for them. Even the faking listening to music so he could here what dudes were saying about him stuff. These dudes were humans. Humans dont like being criticized, especially if its made up bullshyt.

It potentially is. Wa all have positives and negatives because of our parents, even when they're in our lives. I just think this is such an insignificant issue in the grand scheme and comes off as just finding something to complain about for some unknown reason. And the Kobe comparison is just weird.

:laff:

Dude... You are taking an inconsequential, trite, meaningless anecdote/statement from a former teammate and pathologizing this man's masculinity, using an absentee biological father as the reason... That is absolutely asinine.... You don't know the man nor the potential father figures he had in his life to make a judgement about his character......

You literally don’t know him breh please shut the fukk up.

I don’t know any of these dudes on a personal level but here’s what I do know:

MJ and Kobe grew up with their fathers in their life.

MJ:
* Alcoholic
* Gambling addict
* shytty teammate actively hated by several ex-Bulls
* Defended his father when it came out that the man was sexually abusing his daughters
* Potentially the reason behind his fathers death

Kobe:
* Physically bullied/assaulted multiple teammates, most notably Jeremy Lin and Smush Parker
* Snitched on Shaq to cover his own ass during the Colorado case
* Hated his parents guts and cut them off til the day he died so he could c00n with his Latina wife. Even sued them
* Literally raped a chick :dead:

LeBron:
* Had the audacity to want to go to a workplace that was favorable to him :mjlol:

This basketball Stan war shyt got you nikkas living in a WARPED reality. If you prefer Bean and MJ for what they do on the court I don’t give a shyt but there’s no universe wheee these 2 are better “men” than LBJ fathers be damned.

The kinda dudes who think Bron is “soft” and worship MJ/Kobe are the kind of idiots who buy into performative masculinity and think that being a “real man” is just being the most morally bankrupt a$$hole you can humanly be. The same type who have posters of mob bosses and serial killing gang bangers on their wall. The same type (if they’re white) who worship Trump and defend his every move because he has “machismo” and “tells it like it is” even though he’s actively destroying the country. These are not people you want to be associated with :dead:
