The real explanation for dark skin is more boring. Just an evolutionary trait like any other mammal adapting to their environment.I’ve actually heard this theory before…

you live in sunny hot climate longer enough, people without melanin die of cancer, people with melanin survive and had offspring with the trait.
just like animals fur color aligning with their environment to increase survivability.
This is why i don't understand why black folks are so religious and less science. We are treated as inferior by most religions, yet are superior scientifically for the most part.
