Hmm. I'm curious about something. I always hear about women wearing weave/lace wigs as "protective styles."

Would it be safe to say that men are doing themselves a disservice by not using a protective style?

Essentially, would a guy wanting to grow dreads from a caesar be better served by rocking a mini fro/cornrow weave/wig to help the process and "protect the style"?

Or do guys just not need it? If so, why? :ohhh:

Ladies? :patrice:

She is bald. Leaving it that short makes it easier to wear the wigs. It would probably take five years with good care to get her hair to the length of the wig and she would still have to straighten it.

Wig is a short term and easier solution.
Nah I've gone from a 1.5 WTG to almost shoulder length. Took me a lil over a year:manny:

The weave is down her back not to her shoulder. Plus hair naturally grows in layers and that hair is not layered. It is all one length which means you would have to get it to a point where it is all one length. Not to mention trims that she will need to keep it healthy. That's at least 5 years. It's not just about getting a few hairs to a certain point.

Ok I can see taking a few years for it to get to the length in the vid, but I never understood that:francis:

It's realistically doesn't take "that" long to have decently long hair from a lowcut. And I got mine trimmed every 6 months. But who am I:ehh:
