You have to teach self love and show examples of girls (like Skai Jackson - i know about her bcuz of Jessie:mjpls:)

My daughter who is 8 did a big chop 2yrs ago and now she's getting it in dreads. Its a 15% black population at her school and I don't think any black employees.

One book she loves is "I'm a pretty little black girl". Buy her books like that and a poster of young black actresses.so she can see herself and not Becky.

I think you have to go thru these stages as a women to finally reach you final destination... As a kid I grew up in a white area so I mirrored the white kids.. I eventually went for a relax at the age of 13...started weaves at 16...i am now 27 and gave up in the trying to fit in and be like the rest I'm ready to embrace the natural hair I've just recently started my natural journey... My mother and sister laugh... But I'm so done with my hair thinning out and looking terrible... So I think she needs to go thru that in order to finally be comfortable in her skin.... Or in her own hair.... You can talk till your blk and blue in the face . it may or may not do anything.. Either way.. She needs to learn on her own

I have to tell my niece (she's 7) every time that i take her hair down that her hair is beautiful, i tell her that i wish i had never gotten my hair permed. I tell her to never perm her hair & keep it in the state its in. I also tell her the girls at school are jealous of her hair because she always has hers done. Then i add that i will go to her school and fukk up each and every one of them heifas up if that keep talking about her hair. She's a big part in my reason of growing out my perm.

Yup
She's now 5 though.

Her whole class is just white Italian and portugeuse kids

Damn, are they open to playing with her? Do they tease her about it?
I went to a mostly jew school in Thornhill, they wouldn't play with me and my sis because we were black :mjcry:

I wanted locs, like my mother. She instilled in me black pride. Also, showed me how to be confident in my own skin and to not follow the crowd. We did things differently and it was always more fun than what everyone else was doing.
