It's not part of Somali culture to hyphenate/change the woman's last name to that of her husband; only w their children's identity. She still maintains her own identity + her own tribe.

My name sounds too good to be changed anyway.

My last name ain't even my last name. And people can barely pronounce it.

Nope.
It would depend how the name sounded either as a standalone or hyphenated. I would take it in some form or fashion though.

Change it but I would be sad, l love my last name
Why then? If he really loved you, he'd compromise. Youre making yourself unhappy before you even said 'I do'. I told my fiance I wouldnt take his last name just to see if he would be demanding and give me an ultimatuum but thats how we had the convo of coming up with a new one.

Find you one of those :yeshrug:

I'd take his name so that once we have children, we can all have the same last name. I hate when people hyphenate names, so that wouldn't be me (it's like, they couldn't decide one way or another...so they're like "Oh well, I'll just keep both")

I say, in general, I'd take his last name.
Hopefully I don't marry someone with a common last name, like 'Smith' or 'Jones' or whatever.
But seeing as how I'll be getting my professional license before I get married, I don't know if I'll want to go through the process of changing it.
