One of the most underrated skills in a relationship is the ability to be alone

You wont feel the need to be all up under somebody 24/7
You wont be looking to them as a source of entertainment/fulfillment
You and they know the relationship is optional

Nobody likes a clinger

Not being taken care of i.e. Flowers dinner trips

You have to be able to entertain yourself before getting in a relationship. Relationship shouldn't be crazy boring, but you shouldn't expect someone else to keep you entertain. What you were doing as a hobby or past time before should still keep you entertained once you are in a relationship.

I see a lot of people trying to make their mates an accessory, instead of integrating the person into their lives. The couple can stay home and play cards/board games, prep dinner together, binge a show, go to the laundromat, grocery shopping, running errands, take a walk, clean up or organize a room, etc. All the shyt you have to do anyway, but now you have a buddy...and you can have sex when it's over. WIN WIN!

They can still trip out, laugh and be together without needing to plan something formal. It's still "dating" even if they're not going out every weekend.
