You didn’t get a letter or an email?

And was this from the random ass website where everyone had to apply, or is this through work/public service, etc?

This was through that website that was up for like a month until the lawsuits rolled in. So yea I think the random ass website that crashed a couple times even as I was going through it :pachaha:
Congratulations , but this isn't applicable to other people unless you went to those TV colleges (Everest, ITT tech, Phoenix, etc) or if you labored for 10 years in govt work as part of PSLF
I was egligible because I took a Pell Grant. I didn't go to a TV college nor do I work in the Gov.

Ummm..how? Pell grant doesn't get you loan relief. The supreme court rules this month on whether to approve bidens pell plan so that sht is shelved.

The only way to get out of this sht is to go to those for-profit tv colleges or scam colleges or Pslf or bankruptcy after severe loss.

Which of these are you? Also I know the service companies are changing on some old loans so folks are gearing about them being closed at a place like Navient and then reappearing at Oklahoma student loans

From Dec 2022
Through executive order, federal student loan borrowers who meet income requirements will see up to $10,000 in debt canceled. If the borrower received a Pell Grant to attend school, the forgiven amount rises to $20,000. As of Nov. 3, nearly 26 million have already applied, according to the White House, and 16 million requests have been approved.
Relief had been expected to begin as soon as Oct. 23, but intensifying legal challenges across the country mean borrowers must continue to wait through appeals in hopes the whole plan is not derailed. The Department of Education notified approved applicants on Nov. 19, but said debt relief was on hold while it works through the lawsuits.

Before the lawsuits started, there was a website you could sign up for forgiveness. It was a hail mary, I didn't get a notice in the mail or an email. So I guess I got in before it was shelved :yeshrug:

I went to a private university, didn’t go to a for profit university or tv college, didn’t take out a pell (my parents paid for most of my education but made me cover it my senior year with a loan) and I got approved for forgiveness too. I got a letter about it a while ago. I applied back in fall of 2022.

I don’t work a government job either… so now I’m confused on how I got it, if what your saying is correct.

Thats not how it works breh. Id highly suggest you start saving back payments just in case that republican Supreme court shelves this thing. Your issue would arise in the time it takes for the balance to be recreated , because it will most likely be after the September repayment date if the Feds have already blundered to this extent. Just like the IRS which can magically recreate debt when they undercharge you, so can the Department of Education. It happened to me years ago during undergrad, but they were certain to send me requests for their money back.

For both yours , @CarmelBarbie , and even my own sake i hope this holds at the end of the month.:sadcam:
