Thats not how it works breh. Id highly suggest you start saving back payments just in case that republican Supreme court shelves this thing. Your issue would arise in the time it takes for the balance to be recreated , because it will most likely be after the September repayment date if the Feds have already blundered to this extent. Just like the IRS which can magically recreate debt when they undercharge you, so can the Department of Education. It happened to me years ago during undergrad, but they were certain to send me requests for their money back.

For both yours , @CarmelBarbie , and even my own sake i hope this holds at the end of the month.:sadcam:
I appreciate your advice breh.

I'll pay off other debts in the mean time so if it ever does come back, I'll be ready.

I got a letter about it a while ago. I applied back in fall of 2022.
Ah I moved recently so I'm sure the letter got lost. You would have applied in November/Early December I believe.
I called my dad to make sure and he's like "Definitely not. $12,406!? I mean, I love you all that but..." :picard:

The feds had an indefinite stay (which keeps being renewed) right until the recent debt ceiling crisis. During that crisis, republicans forced a sep repayment time.

June is a stay specifically for the 10k or 20k forgiveness granted by the lower courts and upheld by the supreme court in response to Biden exucutive order. So even if the supreme court struck down debt forgiveness this month, you would still have 2 more months until the Republican debt ceiling agreement forced you to pay again

@Afro, did they just transfer your loan to a different servicing system? Because that's what they did with mine.

I checked just now and they transferred my balance to a different servicing system on April 11. I still owe the amount.

It said a payment (other) was done on 5/16. Nothing about a balance transfer and the Inbox is empty.
The statement gave no other details and I don't want to call and fukk something up :lupe:
EDIT: Oh, they have a new system. Did I get excited too soon :lupe:

EDIT 2: FUUUUUUCCCCKKKKK you were right! FUUUCCCCKKKK:damn:

I went to a private university, didn’t go to a for profit university or tv college, didn’t take out a pell (my parents paid for most of my education but made me cover it my senior year with a loan) and I got approved for forgiveness too. I got a letter about it a while ago. I applied back in fall of 2022.

I don’t work a government job either… so now I’m confused on how I got it, if what your saying is correct.
ME TOO! Somebody forgave like $24000!

$12k gonna break you.... what type of degree did you get!?

lol jokes. but since this is a fed loan (assuming since you applied for the federal relief programs) then sign yo ass up for a income based payment plan. they let you pay what you can afford :manny:
