In LA comfortably, 90-120k

In the bay 150k+

In SD, 110-140k

Maybe more or less depending on how bougie you are.

If you're coming out of school, I'd personally suggest to live below your means for a bit, stack up before letting lifestyle creep kick in.

While you can make a dope salary out here and have a decent amount of discretionary income. It's easy to let lifestyle creep have you living check to check...
I’m cool on LA and the bay but I definitely want to experience the CA lifestyle at some point. I’m not really making too much where I’m at now, but having my current hospital on my resume is a door opener in itself. Just not sure where to go after my 1st year is done.

I work in health care, have seen a few male nurses in my time, more recently. I think more men could do it. I got a friend that became one after leaving the military. Besides the money, you will be working mostly with women :ahh:.

Yeah man, San Diego is nice.

It's laid back and not as fast paced as LA or the bay.

And its safe :mjpls:

A bit more expensive housing wise than LA, but its not super crazy like the Bay.

Associates degree RN gang checking in.

I’m in AZ, plenty of $45-60/hr jobs out here. Plus shift diff. AZ is a big snowbird population so it’s slow during the summer, and picks up when it cools off. Late October to May it’s always busy and everyone is hiring.

I have several friends pulling down 90/hr+ in Cali both staff and travelling.

The big covid money is gone, but there are still plenty of travel jobs paying 3-5k/ week all over the country. For the younger nurses, get your 2 years of experience wherever you can- preferably in critical care, and you can go wherever you want.

The cushier jobs working for insurance companies, etc, typically want 5+ years experience plus some case management or supervisor experience to get your foot in the door. They can be gravy, and some pay well, but they don’t have the job security that working in the hospital does. You can always find a job at the hospital.

I work remote during the week, but kept a second PRN job at the hospital on the weekends, keeps my skills up, and if I need to, I can always go back to fulltime at the Hospital.

Working around women in a hospital isn’t any different than working with them anywhere else. As a man, it is easier to avoid the cliquey catty attitudes that they often display toward each other. I don’t tolerate that behavior toward me, nor do I encourage it, and I’ve never had an issue with it.

If you’re single, there is plenty of opportunity to eat. If you get sloppy, expect your business to be known by everyone and you will become part of the gossip circle and drama.

I’m married, and not trying to mess up my money, so I keep it professional. Some of these women are thirsty- I see lots of guys get caught up. My wife and I both work in healthcare, but we aren’t jealous types, or disrespectful toward our relationship, so we don’t have any problems.

There’s Karen’s, hoes, etc, like any other profession or office. Plenty of respectable ladies in the field too.

There will always be nursing jobs available, there is a wide range of directions you can go in your career, you make good money, and you can live anywhere.

I worked construction for 10 years before getting into healthcare. I started as a medical assistant and moved my way up. It’s the best decision I have ever made.
