There are other ways. For example, did you know that You can buy access to America by paying $800,000 to start a business? but the Japanese equivalent is much much much much much much much cheaper. It's called the investor visa.

It's only 35k . any working adult with real career experience in America should be able to have that saved. In previous years, they required you to employ two Japanese citizens. But after COVID they revised the rules to where you don't have to employ anybody.

The only catch, is that your business must make money from Japan. You can't be a digital nomad making money from an American company . But this is actually pretty good for various professionals in accounting, tourism/hospitality, sciences/engineering, etc who can do consulting. And The icing on top of the cake is that your business doesn't have to be profitable for the first two years. But if you manage to get it profitable by the 3rd and maintain it until the 5th year, you get access to living in Japan indefinitely, then you can liquidate your investments and be free .

Another option I've seen a bunch of people use is just transferring to the Japanese division of an American company. This works extremely well for finance and tech, because you can find Goldman Sachs or Google offices in the center of Tokyo.

Your goal is residence, not citizenship. Simply being a productive member of society is enough to get residence.

It's a lot like Canada with a points system where if you are a particularly productive human you can get permanent residence in one or 2 years. A moderately productive human being can get it in 5 years.

They're also temporary residence statuses such as when you get employed by an American firm within Japan, or when you come in as an investor.
@CopiousX droppin facts as always.
:myman:
I’m getting my BM (business manager) visa now. It’s not too bad. We have rental properties in the states so we use that as our “experience”. These lawyers know the game and will put you up on it. I also needed an agreement stating I have a local helping me out with my business.

We are starting a property management company. Dropping our paperwork tomorrow.

There are two ways going about getting a business manager visa. You can apply for a four month visa then come to Japan, start your business, then apply for the year long visa. Or apply for the year king visa off top. All in all the 5 million yen is the most important thing. Plus, an office. Unfortunately, the cheapest office I can find in Okinawa is $500 a month.
:picard:
Either way, moving to Japan isn’t as bad as one would think. The visa takes 3 months to process then you get your COE which you have to take to the embassy. Once that’s complete you are in for a year. Just show your 5M yen or income/expenditures statements to re-up and you are good.

Any questions, hit me up. I plan on posting up out here until my contract is up in 5 years. The visa is for my Wife. My SOFA doesn’t cover her so she has to start a business.

Eventually she will become a lock tech and we may stay here until our daughters graduate high school.
:blessed:
Earthquakes suck. We had one this morning. My building was shaking.
:merchant:
Tsunamis suck. You stick it out or fly somewhere to get away.
:manny:
North Korea and China suck. 70% of all our forces are on this island. If they ever decide to attack, it’s WW3 anyway but the island would probably be blown off the ocean as step one.
:beli:
Until then, we just hear about the mid to long range missile tests.

Rural Japan is incredible.

I've had a 6-inch Huntsmen run into my house, and I've had 2 Mukade in this bítch already.

50% of Americans have less than $500 in savings according to report in January this year. 60% of Americans have less than $1,000 in savings. Sometimes that number is quoted as 70%. I know this site is 6 certs 6figures but you just do not live in reality
That's an incorrect study. It did not factor in retirement accounts, equity in businesses, brokerage accounts, equity in houses. It's horribly debunked. That was a survey done by a random online website, bankrate. That stupid statistic keeps being quoted by clickbait articles.

According to reputable sources like the Federal reserve the median balance in saving accounts of Americans is $39,000. Which means half of Americans have more than this in regular savings accounts. And once again even this number does not factor in tax advantage accounts like IRA, 401k , or 529 plans where most employees keep most of their money. It's actually very counterintuitive to keep your money in a savings account due to inflation and the fact that these are post tax accounts, unlike the tax advantage pretax accounts, hence why it isn't done commonly.

I encourage you to seek reputable sources instead of sensationalist headlines. Again breh, The hell have you been doing with your life if you are in the average age group of the Coli from 30s -40s and haven't saved 35K? :dahell:

I would do it as my wife is Japanese/?

It would be fine I think too, not fussed about race or culture. My job I can easily change as I work for a multinational company and already visited the office.

The language would be the only limiting factor. I started to learn 6 years ago but stopped. I should have just carried on and I would have been N1+ by now.

And no $35k saved either lol. I have a house and kids in nursery, that shyt is expensive.

BTW for brehs really thinking about it, Amazon have data centre jobs where you don’t need English, they take anyone. Basically it’s for gaijin and is going to soon be as accessible as teaching English.

Yes, nice and all but they need an honest disclaimer as we are on a Black forum.
Im not sure Asians like seeing the sight of us over there.

It's like the Italy one where you can buy a home there for a dollar or something.
Nice, but Italy is hostile to Black people so :francis:

They can’t withstand earthquakes. You’re better off getting the land and building from scratch than trying to renovate these houses. Japanese people would never buy these houses, which is why a lot of them are abandoned, and gullible foreigners end up getting finessed instead.

You could say the same thing for the tornadoes/earthquakes/hurricanes/crazy people with guns in America.

Outside of a megaquake, you're super safe in Japan.

As black men, we can get taken off the map by a cop or crazy person just because it was Tuesday:francis:.

He ain’t even mention the risks of callously discarded used vending machine panties, Samurai cyborg assassins, grudge ghosts, Godzilla, Sailor Moon battles, OR Gundams operated under the influence.

Either of the below after paying for the home with cash:

1. Marry a local. This is the easiest option.
2. Get a VISA as a skilled employee. Most people get a job as an English teacher just to get their foot in the door, then they pivot to something else that pays more after a year or two.
3. If you went with option 2, then you have to maintain that visa for 10 years before you can become a permanent resident.

A loophole to the dual-citizenship thing that I've seen is where people will change their name so that they have an English one for America, and one from a different country. If you don't want to game the system, then you'd have to give up your American citizenship.
There’s also a business visa…
You could get residency within 3 months
