Hell ya. I drove a CLS63 for 4 years. It was 18 months old when I got it. The person before me turned in their lease early and had babied it.

Right when it hit that 5 year old mark everything went to hell. Reoccurring vacuum problem that no one could find or fix (not even Mercedes), driver side window switch went, air suspension didn't completely go but needed work, went through 3 tires and 2 rims (in 4 years).

Not to mention that brakes at the dealership are $8k total (that's not a typo) and oil changes aren't cheap either.

There's definitely a cost of ownership beyond the monthly payment once you get into these over engineered cars.

If you made a thread titled "convince me not to buy this" then deep down somewhere you don't want it...:yeshrug:

Or lease for less than the cost of owning like the majority of ppl driving new(er) german cars :comeon:

I lease my car now. So you're not telling me anything new. :russell:

But you're recommending leases in a thread about a CLS550. Does OP have $1,200 a month laying around ?

My last car was $120k brand new. I bought it 18 months used and got 3 years out of it by the time the new body dropped. I traded it in just before 4 years and pocketed $8k. If I had leased that car new for 3 years (same body) my payment would have been almost TRIPLE what my payment was on that car and I would have walked away with $0.

So leasing is not always the best option. Depends on the car and the situation you're in.

Which is exactly why most German luxury cars are leased new instead of financed/purchased & aren't kept long term.

ok. still not seeing what point you're trying to make though.

are you trying to say if you can't afford to lease a new $150,000 benzo you shouldn't get one at all because it's not worth getting it used?

Remember. We are not talking about 3/C/A4 level of cars. Anyone can lease one of those.

No, my point was simply that most German luxury cars, regardless of model aren't very reliable which is why most people lease them & don't retain them long term

If they still have the air suspension, then don't get it, period.
I had a CLS 55 AMG with the air suspension. Never again... fukk man it still makes me mad.

Realize that this is even an option on the table, means you're doing great in life fam. People all over the world are struggling, not just bums and clowns, people who work every day and do everything right. Props man.

What is it that you do? I'm a BMW guy (meaning: I want one, I can't afford one. Yes Coli brehs, I'm the one Coli breh who can't afford a brand new BMW - I know, I'm an outcast - but the German engineering and luxury of this car, no way you'll be disappointed. Only key thing again is warranty. Looks like you've done quite a bit of research. If this works out - good luck and congrats!
