Brehs, could prime Rasheed Wallace or K.G. give Kevin Durant trouble?

:patrice: I watching this ESPN clip from yesterday & was wondering:

Jalen Rose, Michelle Beadle and Mike Greenberg debate if Golden State Warriors' Kevin Durant is a better pure scorer than Cleveland Cavaliers' LeBron James.

A prime KG? Yeah imo.

He has the length and quickness to keep up with KD, he defended the perimeter as good as any big did and his BBIQ, especially on the defensive end, was off the charts.

Sheed, I'm not so sure. That's assuming he doesn't get ejected :mjlol:

Soft yes to both. Don't think either could check him all game, but they would be able to hang with him and make him work. KG more so than Rasheed though, think he was the better perimeter defender of the two. 'Sheed was a stupidly good post defender, wasn't as good out on the perimeter as KG but he could still switch and move and guard pick-and-rolls and all that. The way KD plays outside though, given that he's a little bit quicker, it's a harder cover for them outside of like 20 feet. But they could certainly challenge him on drives or in the post.

I'm talking about them being able to defend/guard/slowdown K.D.
Hell fukking no.
first of all prime kg and rasheed were not checking anyone 23 feet away from the rim...let alone someone almost taller than them with guard skills
them nikkas werent even checking dirk in his prime and he was an actual power forward.
they did cross matches.

What about prime Ron Artest?
prime ron artest in todays nba would foul out...he'd stand a better chance cause of his physicality and better lateral mobility in a 1 on 1 situation.....but realistically....
Only person stopping kd is kd. he's 10 years deep in the league...you've seen his body of work....a scoring machine. 7 foot tall and can essentially get his shot off anywhere 30 feet and in.....zero hyperbole

I dont know about rasheed, but garnett was a great defender and even got chosen as the DPOY once so i will say he can and he has the height also.

Sheed was a beast of a defender....but it would all depend on what type of def he was allowed to play. If he was allowed to be physical on the perimeter, then yup. But if it was hands off, then nah. Durant would feast on dribble pull-ups.

No. Because both were really protectors within 15-20 feet. KD is a freak in that he can score outside as well as he can inside, though in fairness. In the 90's the 3 Pt shot was not shot at the percentages they are shooting at today or really at that volume so the smart defensive play was to make the shot difficult but defend the lanes first and foremost.
