i downloaded, opened the program and pressed start... it now says checking nameserver availability... how long does this take? Do i get DNS settings after checking nameservers is finished?

you have to change your DNS settings your self, once you get the report. Here is how to change your DNS settings on Windows..I downloaded the program and it took about 20 minutes, but didn't change my DNS settings.
I next used the program mentioned in the lifehacker link and it gave the same nameserver mentioned in the first program in 10 seconds.... along with the option to change the settings for you.

The other program changes the DNS for you?I could have, but the program changed them just fine.
Only got a 28.8% increase, though.
But any progress is progress.

The other program changes the DNS for you?![]()
no scam.
DNS settings are what allows your computer to connect to wider networks.

https://code.google.com/p/namebench/
Run it
and enter those DNS settings on your computer network settings.
You may have to turn them on/off if you go to a different network or whatever.
but the speed savings are
I fukked around and improved my speeds at home by 70%![]()

You know you're Coli-fied when you hover over the thread title for the preview and immediately read "bedwench" instead of "namebench"![]()
