Poor, particularly poor & rural blacks, place a big emphasis on language, that much is true.

Poor whites have their own inner-group signifiers as well....they are just less focused on because American culture is obsessed with what is termed "black pathology".

Most black people know how to "code switch" mind you....even Obama does it to an extent.

I wish this was always true... but a lot of the times you have ignorant little nigelts who say you're talking white for speaking properly...let's not make excuses for people....

...nobody has ever accused me of "talking white" btw... but I've seen them do it to others and those people sounded perfectly normal to me.
