I normally do my own hair since I'm growing freeform locs and just need a line up here and there, but when I do go to my barber I pay $20 plus $5 tip. It's in a nice location and they get pretty good business from what I know. It's right next to a nail salon so I always see dudes come in there to get a cut while their ol' lady go in the nail salon. They also sell snacks and hair products in the shop. I know they probably eat good off those curling sponges :pachaha:

Shiiiiiiit...the optical illusion, hologrpahic, 3D shadow fade with a lil south of France action coupled with the airbrush is at least 20 dollars in and of itself. Cutting the actual hair is about another $10-$15 and the beard is another 5-10... especially if you getting that airbrushed and faded from the sideburns ...

Oh, and that’s all with a fresh Bevel blade too :usure:

This shyt is not a game ... guys turning this shyt into the beauty salon ...

Them country niccas will still get you for $12-$15... but the difference is usually apparent when you compare the two.
Damn....there are way more levels to this shyt than I thought.

I remember 10 years ago the bigen hair coloring for edge ups, bald spots and all over the head emerged. Now its all this plus man weaves and shyt (haven't seen in my area but I heard big cities they have this a lot). Its always something new coming out.

Levels are getting higher ... and I didn’t even mention if you’re getting hit with the straight edge razor too and the hot towel treatment.

:snoop:

... you could easily drop 60-70 bux at a higher end, platinum baller shop.

barber: slides behind you and rubs his dikk against your ear.
you: :birdman:
barber: what the fukk is your problem?
you: why the fukk you rubbing your dikk up on my ear piece?
barber: you aint thinking about your p*ssy problems, right?
you: :snoop:
barber: $20 plz.
you: :wow:

My shop recently opened so it's $10 on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
I live in an huge military area with schools so a good portion of the population is transient. A couple of barbers told me that in our area...its best to always keep working to gain recurrent clientele....always jump on walk-ins and cut them well to keep them. That's how u best make it in my area unless u always been in the area as well as u cut exceptionally well whereas clients would stay with u just to get that fresh cut.

Its just that its hard to find consistent high quality when it comes to barbers...some barbers start out well then slack off or get lazy. Then, u got some barbers who always cut good...but they can have some unprofessional ways whereas they asking u to bring food, they have multiple people lined up whereas u gotta wait like u in a beauty parlor, they gotta smoke in between cuts, they gotta talk about BS for long periods of time while they got a line of clients waiting up to get cut and got other shyt to do, etc. If u a barber and don't always provide A1 cuts...then u can become expendable.
thats my barber he unprofessional as shyt. I swear they've fired him at least twice in the past year. He in a wheelchair and he don't make me pay extra to cut my beard. nikka had me run an errand to pick up his medicine from the cvs once :stopitslime:. I normally go when I've got a few hours to kill and it ain't far from the crib anyways so I don't really be tripping.

He actually just recently went on a hiatus for like three months now so I started getting the shop owner to cut me early mornings. But a couple weeks ago he told me dude came back. :francis: idk if I'm ready to fukk with him anymore the shop owner got me looking :whew: I might just go in the mornings now when he ain't there.

Bruh, stick with shop owner especially if he got ur cut looking right.

But asking u to pick up his meds from CVS...:gucci:...but my old barber had me bring him food but he took it off the cut of course...fuk I look like buying food for another man who aint a good friend.

Some barbers got good hustle skills so they know how to do it. Sometimes it just comes with the territory. I just happen to lose my barbers cuz shyt be happening like my past barber who cut my dad hair as well got locked up for 5 years min due to distribution charges. Its always something.

Ok, so lets try this for the 3rd time...I don't think all barbers are living check to check, hand to mouth or at/below the poverty line. I just would like to understand how as a barber you can legally increase your income by 10-20% every couple years and sustain that rate of grown until retirement. That's all I'm trying to understand. It's an honorable profession, I appreciate barbers and have a ton of respect for the service they offer. So I'm not shytting on them either. Just trying to gain some understanding

Do you even get your hair cut at a black barbershop breh?

Have you not seen how in the last 5-10 years, Barbershops have transitioned from places where you just get a cut....to places that offer also hot shaves, washes, bigen facials etc.?

It's simple, you either work more...or have better work. there aint nothing else too it.

No worries man, I wasn't trying to stir things up, just legitimately asking but doesn't sound like you're equipped to answer the question; you're not alone. I'm all too familiar with how barbershops are run and the list of services they provide. I just haven't been able to encounter someone that can show me a plan for a scalable business model achieving organic growth of 5% each year than can be replicated. It's a highly competitive industry based on re-tread and most [financial] success stories can't be duplicated. I'm talking long term success, retirement income between 85-115% of peak annual salary. That's not asking a lot, I've seen people achieve this working their way up through Walmart, McDonalds or Chik-Fil-A...which is my point, the ceiling is way too low for the barber industry and part of that is because we don't know what the real figures look like because of the way folks file their taxes :manny:

my barber finally upped to $25 after a solid 10 years of charging $20

he cuts some saints players too, i think about 5 or 6 and they pay like $150 a pop to him...him and the other barber split costs of running their shop

he plans on opening his own shop too. and it's easy to make money doing this. it's a service that will be needed...forever.

to be simple, when you have a steady clientele, that's guaranteed money. when the customers themselves start making more money, they pass a bit on to the barbers.

if you work as a barber 20 days, and you cut 3-5 heads a day at $25, that's...$1500-2500. I see that as being the basic floor for a barber. that's not counting tips, busy periods (holidays), and cutting hair for people with MONEY. A barber should be able to gross about $40K if he's serviceable. if he's good and cuts more, or charges more that can double.
