the success of Magna Carta makes me think Jay could pull it off.
With Ye' the main problem was that Yeezus wasn't commercially appealing enough for the masses to really get into. if Ye dropped something less experimental he could probably do it

I'm telling you breh.... Jay-Z fans are not gonna go out and buy copies of Magma Cardboard Holey Moley.... just so they can go out, find whatever rapper Jay doesn't like...and throw CD's at them.
even with that huge samsung commercial and them buying 1 millin copies, he still sold around what he always sells.... nothing really changed but how the idea was sold to the fans.
When was the last time you seen anything like this, from some Jay fans?

Beyonce stans hate Keri and still hold on to that beef. She been blackballed, breh.But only the Eminem, Jay, and maybe Kanye can drop unexpected albums. Most rappers would flop and totally remove albums from the mainstream.

Metallica dropped an album out of nowhere...ya know, drop albums "out of nowhere"... despite being on tour and being highly visible, and having a legion of fans who are arguably the worst/most obnoxious in all of music... that'll go buy your CD's just to throw them at singers they don't like.
but do it under the guise of "This shows you don't need the labels to sell records" and " it's gonna change the industry, so you should hop on board and get with it"
