I was actually considering joining the air force but I'm not sure if I can go because I watch over my grandma when needed. Anyways if I can join, I buy the book that helps study for the entrance exam to score high, and then which job at the air force do I apply for the experience?
If I can't join the air force, what certs do I get and how do I get experience before I can apply for an entry level or whatever (idk wtf I'm talking bout now)
What you mean traditional route? Like applied at a company in which the position is bottom level? (hence help desk, right?)
Can you elaborate more on enterprise level doing cloud stuff? Like what do I look to apply for that?
Somebody answer this please :mjcry:

not sure what the AFSC's are called now, but if you're serious, i'd encourage you to go talk to a recruiter and ask for available jobs

i know when i got out, they were in the process of merging a bunch of career fields, so it is very different now than it was then

the job used to be a 3C0, you can ask the recruiter what the equivalent to that is today

if you can't join, the certs i would go after would be here:

Find the right IT certification

start with desktops and move to areas you like... passion is everything

what i meant by the traditional route is i worked my way up from the bottom

when i say enterprise level experience, i mean an IT environment that affects 50k+ users, which are globally dispersed... if you're working at some company with a few hundred or thousand employees that is not enterprise. look for companies that have 50k+ employees, it requires a little research on your part but it will pay dividends in the future

The World, but from BK
Do you have your CPA?

Nah, I got a degree in finance and just been able to make moves. I've been working in accounting depts since I graduated and I stayed at each job about 4-5 years and have been able to get promoted at each one. I've done about 4 years at college in the acct dept and recently 5 years at a tech-staffing consulting company. Spotify wanted at least 6 years of experience, so I had that. The 2 interviews I had with them went well, so i got the job. The timeframe at each job helped to show stability. I never figured I get this far in this field. I hated math, but I'm pretty chilled and easy to work with and have become very good using excel. Employers like that. I start at Spotify the day after labor day, so i'll see how things pan out. I'm just happy they provide breakfast and lunch :yeshrug:
