@FreedMind How was your trip? Leaving tomorrow myself.

Have yet to actually go.:mjcry:

Ended up going to Atlanta early December and LA for New Years. Got a 'real' job now that is pretty demanding, so it looks like international travel might not happen in the near future.:sadcam:

I'm actually in NYC right now tho, and I can't imagine Tokyo would be any crazier than this city lol.

Definitely tag me in any thread you make about Tokyo, pass any tips/insight my way too breh.:salute:

I’m going in October. I actually have my airline ticket. I would like the info you brehs we’re going pass on to @FreedMind . Someone mentioned earlier that locals don’t rent to foreigners. Does that mean AirBnB is out of the question? I arrive in Tokyo but plan on going to other places like Osaka, Nagoya, Mount Fuji, Kyoto, Nara, Hiroshima, Okinawa, Shirakawa-gō and Gokayam. I’ll be there for 10 days or so. What should I do at these locations for food, entertainment and genuine Japanese experience. I want to feel the good vibes everyone says exists in Japan. :whoa: Legally of course.

I’ll definitely look into getting that green pass.

@BlackDiBiase new york is MAINEY bruh!! I was out there solo, sticking out like a mfer.:francis:

Not gonna lie, that's the first time I was in a city and sort of lost my sense of direction. Just so much to take in when you first get there.

But ain't not a single person fukkd with me or nothing. Went out to the bars, the girls was hella cool (mostly ran into transplants tho) and then chopped it up with some brehs from Harlem. My ass prolly got a lil more turnt than I should have, stayed out till 4AM.

If I can do it you'll be good breh.:lolbron:

I’m still here. Been out here since 2014. Definitely a great place to visit. Living here has its ups and downs tho. If you’re out here for a week, that’s plenty of time to see all of the tourist attractions and make it out to Osaka, Hiroshima, and Mt. Fuji.

Honestly, I wouldn’t worry too much about learning the language. I don’t speak that much Japanese, but I’ve got enough down to where we’ve gone to restaurants, gotten our cars fixed, asked for directions, etc.

As fukked up as America is, I've seriously considered staying out here after I retire

I just graduated in July, got money saved up, and I'm seeing round trip I can get flights out there for approximately $600-700.

My biggest fears all stem from the fact that I don't know any Japanese, and I'd also be flying out by myself.:francis:

Any of y'all got any advice or tips for a brehito in my predicament? If I go, how easy would it be for me to maneuver around? Could I survive knowing virtually nothing about the country? Is there certain places I should check out?

Imma begin searching through other threads as well.

Don't go to Kyoto under any circumstance if you ever plan on returning.

The amount of cleanliness, manners, decency, mixture of ancient architecture with unbelievably perfect infastructure, an entire section of the city dedicated to traditional life, geishas all over the place (real ones,) and muthafukking Kyoto style pickled food. I fukking hate pickled food but kyoto got that shyt so good.

You will think Tokyo is trash is you have any level of culture.

I said Tokyo is trash if you have any sense of culture and visit Kyoto.

It's like walking into a golden age society of absolute professionalism and pride. It's fukking night and day with Tokyo.

A lot of people could care less about cultural things. They want hoes and fried chicken. But if you want to go outside and feel blessed by the giant shinto shrine red arcs over the regular immaculately designed and maintained streets....

shyt is like living on another planet in Kyoto.

@FreedMind @You_Ugly_on_Skype aight brehs so im in Tokyo with wifey, shinjuku to be exact and man oh man. This place done slapped me in my face with culture from the start.

We arent even 24 hours here yet and I have already been helped by 3 different people who went out their way to help us. One guy just wanted to spark a conversation and one elder even sat next to us in the subway to tell us in poorly english when to hop off for the next train etc. I can feel that he felt some sort of satisfaction when I told him “thank you” in english. He replied with a “your welcome” as if he been waiting to scratch that off his bucket list :wow:

People in the thread were right about the africans (nigerians) at the club areas. They mostly work as a doorman (security guard) or discussing some shyt in a group infront of a club lol. If they try and talk to you they see you as a potentional target. Its a chin up, and stick your breast out when you walk type of thing so they know you not a goofy.

Enjoying the fudge outta this trip right about now. Everybody is overly polite and is trying to explain everything in english even if they dont speak it very well. Its like they know you are a black person who doesnt live here based on your looks and the energy your carrying.
