Why be a smart ass? Just reply to his question :birdman:

:cape:

figured id post in the booth to get responses from people who also listen to and focus more on hiphop but have suggestions for some other music.

thanks for your response tho:stopitslime:

Yea 'cause people are really signing up to the coli just for the Left Field sub-forum :russ: This is a hip-hop site and the left field is for exactly what you described. :pacspit:

Nah nikka. Your tellin me everyone in the booth strictly listens to rap? I don't think so that's why I'm askin what else they're listening to. If I wante to go left field and discuss that shyt like I discuss hip hop then that's where I would've went. But that ain't the case

Well, I start off with Rage Against the Machine. IMO, they are ear friendly for someone who only listens to hip hop and just started or wants to start listening to rock. Their last album is a cover album and they covered Microphone Fiend from Rakin :ohlawd:

I then move on to Nirvana. Start off with either Nevermind or Bleach. Their last album is more of a test to their fans.

Red Hot Chili Peppers is also another band I recommend. Ignore their first 4 albums. Start off with Blood Sugar Sex Magik and skip the next album and go to Californication.

Below I listed some of the 3 bands I mentioned staple songs. YouTube them and enjoy :lawd:

Rage Against the Machine:
Bulls on Parade
Killing in the Name
Guerilla Radio
Testify
Sleep Now in Fire

Nirvana:
Smells Like Teen Spirit
Come As You Are
Heart-Shaped Box
Rape Me
About a Girl
School
Breed

Red Hot Chili Peppers:
Under the Bridge
Suck My Kiss
Blood Sugar Sex Magik
Around the World
Road Trippin'
Californication
Can't Stop
Dani California
Snow (Hey Oh)

I don't listen to heavy metal that much but I recommend the black album from Metallica. I have also been listening to a lot of indie rock lately and I think The Suburbs by Arcade Fire is also friendly to the ears. Give that a try if you want.

P.S. "indie rock" is basically like underground hip hop although it is now mainstream.

ive listened to hip hop all my life and thats been about it

i listend to in my mind for the first time this morning :noah:
its a whole different sound from what im used to :ohhh:

i realized i really need to hear more of the music out there..
anyone got any non-hop-hop suggestions?

i need your help brehs

Btw about one of the artis I mentioned......listen to "The Wedding List" by Kate Bush

@DStyles pretty much did the rock you should check out already. The underground scene AND mainstream of rock music currently are both in worse shape in hip hop......so its generally hard to find the good ones beside occasional ones like Arcade Fire.....

Listen to Evanescence. "Tourniquet:.....everyone knows about their song "Bring Me To Life" from the last decade....but listen to tracks like Torniquet........"Fallen",etc,etc

Amy Lee has a very catchy voice....

U2's "Joshua Tree" album

And finally google or youtube "Katsuo Ono" and listen to his amazing superb luscious instrumentals :ohlawd:

I wouldn't bother asking anyone in here opinions on music other than hip hop ..

You'll be stuck with a bunch of irrelevant grunge and alternative 90s music..
