For a while now, I've been thinking of joining the navy, for multiple reasons(main being that I need to get my life in order and I feel this might be the best way for me). Now my question is, how likely it is for me to get in if I have been diagnosed with asthma(as a kid, haven't had a problem with it since 9), Flat feet(don't wear special footwear tho), hypothyroidism and major depression?

Extremely hard...You have far to many health issues currently I don't think it's honestly worth your health because you will go thru a lot of wear and tear....

Extremely hard to the point I won't be able to get a waiver for them(cause my asthma might be gone and my other issues aren't severe) or extremely hard to the point that a waiver wouldn't matter?

Also, at this point in my life, I really don't have much to lose, so I don't really care about the damage joining might cause.

If you make it, it'll be tough to continue but it's how bad you want whatever they're offering....

And imo, I'd try to join the chAir Force first:yeshrug:

If your asthma is capable of being gone by than its not an issue...the navy isn't as running intensive as the Marines and Army so you won't really have an issue with flat feet.....To be honest unless it's in your med records just keep your med history to yourself and don't tell the recruiters....

I heard the army takes everyone. I hear u need to be really smart to get into the Air Force. The only person I know who was in the Air Force is @Cole Cash.
Nah... you don't got to be THAT smart... they just have a higher standard on getting in

They'll act like they don't want/need you while the other branches butter you up to join.

Ultimately I wish I had joined AF but Navy offered me more on the outside

Don't say shyt. I've asthma, flat feet, and major depression and I got in. But to be completely honest it's not worth it at all. Don't join the military as a black man.

The black man or woman is capable of joining the military, and taking from it, and making himself a comfortable life for themselves and their family. Just look at it as another avenue towards middle class instead of the college to corporation avenue, or the bootstraps to small business owner avenue.

This is what you do. You don't say anything about that shyt, and I mean anything. Once you get in, and I mean after you pass boot camp, wait for about 6 months or so. Now here comes the most important part. You go to the doctor and you complain about your breathing. Let them run test on you, and they will find that you have asthma. Say that you must have just developed it.

Next, complain about your feet. Say that this shyt just started happening because of all the running you have to do. They will diagnose you with some type of foot condition.

Next, complain about depression and make up some bullshyt attributing it to the Navy. Start seeing a counselor, and never under any circumstance say that you are improving. Just be a sad depressed motherfukker the whole time you are in.

The next step is to get the fukk out when your enlistment is done. Don't sign a fukking reenlistment bonus or fall for none of that bullshyt they tell you. GET THE fukk OUT! Make sure all your medical conditions are properly recorded in your record.

Now that you are out, you can apply for a disability percentage from the Navy because you will have proper documentation of a foot condition, asthma, and depression. With those things alone, you will probably be getting 30%- 50%. If you really finesse they ass, you can get more.

You can look up the percentages yourself to see how much money you will get. This money is FOR LIFE, AND NON TAXABLE INCOME. I don't care if you win the lottery or get a million dollar a year job, you will receive this money. Receiving this money will not effect you in the civilian world, in fact, it will make you more attractive as a candidate, especially for Government jobs.

I repeat, do not fall for that sucker shyt and stay in after your initial enlistment. Like a poster said above me, it's no place for a black man, or any real nikka for that matter. Get in, hit that lick, and get out.

I don't know how young you are, but this is Grade A game right here, so please take heed and follow these instructions to a tee.

We gotta quit with all the Furious Styles " A Black Man has no place in the military" thinking.

the military, if used correctly.... will afford you with a shytload of opportunities to better yourself in every way shape and form.

Far too many people fail to plan for life after the military....get out and end up fukked, cause they didn't take advantage of things while they were in....and then end up getting dikked by the VA trying to get what they should've gotten.
