Bumping for my fellow brehs. How does this look for you all now? Getting the official grooming for cfo now. Doing the classes and being sent to seminars on the company's dime. shyt is in motion here. :blessed:
I pivoted to analytics but still keep my CPA license active. shyt has been clutch as I still get recruiters hitting me up often+ the CPA definitely made me look more attractive when I was job searching

i didn’t wanna be like them cac kids in college that switch up majors outta nowhere, but going from business admin to accounting won’t hurt me. I was thinking of getting into accounting and then getting the cpa. And accounting seems cooler cuz I wanna start my own shyt later down the line. I wanna hear from you brehs that are accounting brehs. :feedme:

Yes, but I would plan on getting an MBA after a few years working in the industry. Reason being that accounting is one of those professional services that could easily be affected by automation/AI.

Dope! What kind of tools are you using? Is this actuary work or something else? Either way, that sounds great.

Good luck to you breh. Soak up as much game as possible and don't turn into a prick like some of the people that you will meet. If I may, some advice. Level your excel skills up. Like, to an advanced level. It's a separator and from you and your peers. What you ultimately will have as your focus will be determined in due time but for what you can control now? Go way beyond the vlookups and sumifs.

I'm in SQL, Tableau and Excel daily for data analysis. Use Python or visual studio to load data. I'm in a sales org.. basically using data to help drive strategy to maximize profit. I'm interested in getting my masters in AI though as I wanna do research on my own/build models and stuff

I think it's just going to broaden the use case for auditors/require broader skillsets. Someone will still have to audit the models, etc. Also for public specifically, clients often provide the wrong shyt and are very unpredictable. There will also always need to be human judgment.

My focus is audit but someone who’s wrapping up their internship at the same firm gave me the same advice.

The Controller left the company in 2020 and I got bumped up to the position. I’ve been holding it down for 2 years now. I swear I learn something new everyday.I have my degree in finance but started out at the company doing accounting.

The pay is A1 but I know I need to get my masters and CPA eventually.
