Salt n pepa kool moe dee etc. But alot of ny rappers after them have been overrated. Half of them wouldn't be known if they was from Ohio or Sacramento or the bay area. Ny has the biggest market and media so even a local ny rapper will be known by half the country. Troy ave maino uncle murda utter trash and they known by alot of people.
I respect the south and west grind it's harder to come out this way in west coast because not the same labels media or opportunity like in ny. So the fact ny down show they lazy cause they have a built in advantage. The south been dominant twelve years switching up they sound and flooding the market with different rappers. That a winning strategy

It's a combination of things, the music just isn't that good, period. The notion that there are all these hidden superstars in these ny streets held back by x y z is bullshyt. The city is dead culturally, everything we make is just a generic rendition of other regions shyt, some of these nikkas making decent block music for their block but nothing that is going to shake the game
If you gonna jack the Chi style then at least flash some military grade weapons.
