So i decided to sell the Macbook Pro I stole from my job and use the money to buy a new one.

I put an ad on craigslist. I got a reply from someone wanting me to text them. It's a 404 area code but i'm like whatever. I text and he wants to know how much. I said 1100.00. He says he wants me to ship to Cali and he'll pay via paypal. I'm like 1125.00 he say's he'll pay 1150.00 and to overnight it. So he asks for my paypal email address and my name.

Is this legit? I know how paypal disputes work so if I provide a tracking number and get insurance I know they can't be on some they didn't get it shyt or it was destroyed. He offered more and didn't haggle the price so Unless I undervalued it (15 in monitor, i7 processor, 8 gigs of RAM 1 TB ssd hard drive) it seems fishy.

But if I provide proof by having it packed by a third party and insure it Paypal will find in my favor. I'm not going to send it until I transfer the money into my bank account anyway. They would lose any dispute so my Paypal will have a negative balance but not for long

And if you really wanna see whats good, go look up craigslist in cali and see what macbooks they got on there. I bet you'll see cheaper ones. Or maybe he lives in a really bad neighborhood and he's like "Nah, I'd rather get my shyt from another state"

it don't work like that....

Paypal will hold the money until it's delivered and depending on your selling history and how you sent it, it will be released in 3 to 21 days.

He's probably going to chargeback after you confirm you sent it. But you can kinda protect yourself....

1. Make sure he's verified and the address is verified. If not...stop and walk away.
2. After he sends the money go to the details page and make sure its says Seller Protection eligible
3. Make sure you buy the postage through paypal, NOT at the post office. Paypal will let you pay for it with the money he sent you.
4. When you get to the post office, it's up to to send the real laptop or not. I would probably just send it if I thought it MIGHT be legit, but you could send a phone book if you want.
5. His only action is to say the item is fraudulent. But if you are under complete seller protection then Paypal just says fukk it and lets the shyt stay pending for 30 days and then closes the case.

i'm gonna just hold out for a cash offer. I mean I did post pics but he didn't ask any questions about it, plus I don't want to have to go through waiting to get the money. I'm gonna tell him my paypal account is blocked and ask him to send the money western union or money gram.

If you came up on the laptop then don't jump into a selling situation you don't feel comfortable with. Just do what someone said above and deal it with cash locally.
