'04 is a slept on year IMO. Before this thread, I rarely if ever saw that year spoken of especially in a positive manner. There were a lot of gems dropped that year. Some that went haven't been mentioned yet include:

Eightball & MJG- Livin' Legends
Young Buck- Straight Outta Ca$hville
Cee-Lo Green- Cee Lo Green Is... The Soul Machine
Royce Da 5'9"- Death Is Certain

Even though Crunk ruled that year, there were some dope music that came from that sound:

Crime Mob- Knuck If You Buck
Lil' Scrappy- No Problems
Ice Cube- Roll Call (Crunk Juice was a good album for what it was)

Massacre was hot as fukk in 2005...I was a frosh in college and the whole dorm was bumpin' that and 2050 G-Unit Tape til Gucci & Jeezy took over the summer.

It was a disappointing album. Too many soft songs as I recall. Never thought 50 was that special on the mic to begin with.

But it was a huge album with a few huge singles.

I think '04 is the last year where we really got consistent, solid releases in Hip-Hop. I mean name another year in the past 10 years where there's been 10+ SOLID Hip-Hop albums released. I bet you none of them fukkin wit '04. Call it revisionist, nostalgic, but it's the damn truth.

Sad cuz this is around the time snap music and fukking ringtone rap were startin to take hold, but it's like Hip-Hop made it's final stand before going totally commercial/capitalistic. You still had a decent balance between Industry/Underground cats gettin shine.

Everyone thought Papoose, Saigon, Grafh, etc. were contenders, the SMACK & countless other DVDs were everywhere, nikkas wasn't dressing like complete fakkits, and production was more than just a fukking 808 & a double time stuttering hi-hat with some bass, flipped 20 different ways throughout the album...

Salute to '04, if you nikkas ain't knowin.

most of them album pics u posted, those albums sucked

2004 is like that year I'll be going on about when I'm 50, if I live that long..I graduated from high school, was out there running around crazy and all these albums were like the constant sdtk to it all...covered Jada in another thread, and I remember even that trash DJ Quick track, one of my girl friends from high school loved, and I remember being in the car with her at 3:00 AM, just repeating that all drunk and high...

How many times I ran through 'Straight Outta Cashville', 'Stomp' was just relentless in my boys ride, like we thought were that hard and shyt, Buck spit RAW on that album, 'Prices On My Head' had us riding around with the heat and all that, ducking down low in the seats.

'The Carter' was like our hustlers anthem, we played that shyt OUT over the summer, wake up, hot as hell, with my boy blaring 'If You So Gangsta' (Banks) I'm hungover as fukk, all irritated, hitting the blunt in the late morning. 'Go DJ', I swear we all thought we were Wayne, and 'B.M.J.R' don't even get me started, that's music that hits me in the heart for real, just off all memories, 'I Miss My Dawgs', 'CMB', 'Who Wanna', this was the Wayne I liked. and 'Amerikaz Nightmare', that was another one. One day I'll write all this bullshyt down, more eloquently. Too much happened that summer with that music as our background. Who else copped Banks and Wayne on the same day?

Can cosign Bleek, I like all his albums but 'MADE' was a late winter/fall classic, imo, one of those albums that stayed in rotation months after it's release, all the way into spring/summer 2004, zoning out with a blunt in the car with my boy, nighttime, 'My Life', or 'Hypnotic' playing down the freeway...ill shyt.
