Thomas Ford - Oud Minerale: Off first sniff, I'm not really feeling this one all too much. I get more iodine/metallic woods than I do any coastal or airy vibes. It's interesting enough, but I'm not feeling it chemistry wise with my skin. Apparently, there was an older formula that was a lot more smoother; I wish I could've tried it cuz I understand the vision. Might have to take it for a few more spins out in the wild though, see what it does in that cold air---maybe get more of that salty marine type ish.

On another note, my lil jits finally starting to ask for more cologne & shyt. Now a breh can get rid of bottles I wasn't using anymore with an excuse to buy full bottles of what I really want after trying so many decants

Recent SOTDs
  • Pineward - Gluhwein - a literal Christmas scent. Starts out kinda harsh, but dries down to "festive sweetness" - not quite cinnamon/mace/nutmeg/clove, but also not just vanilla/sugar. True indie fragrance smell - kinda good, but not sure exactly what it is, because it doesn't really follow the same designer/niche patterns.
  • Imaginary Authors - Memoirs of a Trespasser - Bought because Ash used to talk about this a lot. Smells like a waffle cone/vanilla. Oddly enough I got a free sample from Ministry Scent - Stroopwafel - which is a lot like a waffle cone but Dutch. Nothing to write home about
  • Hugo Boss - Boss Bottled Elixir - I literally just sprayed this onto a towel - and I can't describe it. It's very popular, but very unremarkable.
  • City Rhythms - Austin - Cognac, Tobacco, Leather, Amber, Vanilla - these are not the notes I associate with Austin, like at all. But if I bought anything from this House, this would be it. All my favorite notes in one fragrance...but it does definitely smell like something else - namely Angel's Share and Oajan. So low key, despite it's description, it's an apple pie spice scent.

I kinda miss my decant of Naxos.
I didn’t really get the tobacco to my nose. I remember it being more lemon and honey.

Might cop a 2-3 ml of that with my next order.

Honey and pancake syrup are two of the most dominating notes out there. I never smell the tobacco in either.

SOTD - Creed Oud Zarian

This right here is my type of carrying on :obama:

This is what I had in mind when I went down the Oud rabbit hole to restock for the winter. It's definitely a pivot for their usual fresh DNA joints. The opening cloud (Frankincense, Myrrh, other spices) gives off them Royal Tobacco vibes for a split second but that doesn't last too long; there's no tobacco here, just licorice. It morphs into something more creamy, resinous and refined on the bacc end. I would definitely say it's not for everybody, especially the opening, but I'm enjoying this one a lot.
