The more decants you sample, the better you get at identifying what notes you gravitate to. And which ones you tend to dislike.

Granted it changes over time. A fragrance you’re into at 25…you may not like it at 45.

For me, I’m really not a fan of floral notes, green notes, and powdery profiles.

There may be the exception. Prada L’Homme and Gentle Fluidity Silver sit well with me. They’re more on the fresh side than powdery or floral.

I say this because it’s important to know what you like. A fragrance might be hyped or loved by the vast community but if has notes or a profile you don’t vibe with, it is not worth your money.

I have spent a few hundred bucks at least on bottles and decants of stuff that’s well-rated, that I never touch.
