Even as far as back as the 1990s the Democrats were moving more to the right which culminated in them picking people like Bill Clinton. That movement to the right was to accommodate the Republicans that they were trying to lure to the Democratic party. To lure those Republicans the Democrats enacted a bunch of Draconian measures that was meant to harm African Americans. Of course you know of the Crime bill, but they also shytted on poor people and called it welfare reform. They also had some crap they called education reform. They were trying to outdo Newt Gingrich, which in shytting on the poor. Regular Black people had little to nothing to with it. The Democrats were acting in their political interests to gain favor with White voters.
