Real talk working with teens who been though the system you speak to these kids and they severely lack knowledge of self. For that reason they are recurring in the system and repeating mistakes. But this can be applied to anyone in life not just criminals. The trials and tribulations we face in life only make us stronger, we can't change if we don't have a sense of self and accountability.

Family used to have alcoholics and chain smokers, ironically my first job rn is working at a Casino full of people that remind me of my relatives. Peer pressure doesn't end at high school, it just manifests as you get older in the worst ways imaginable.

The reason this line connects with me, is because we grew up with similar backgrounds and SoCal people are something else man. I'm 24, yet have this outlook to my own generation that tries to bring me down to their level.
Weird, when you are too mature and feel out of place in your own age group.
