Man…my barber was randomly out of town one weekend late last year and I had to go to a new shop. Sat down, nice lobby, football game on…I was there for almost two hours. Saw multiple people come in and get cut. When a barber didn’t have a customer he’d be on his phone or walking around like he didn’t see me.
:francis:

Finally a barber asked if I had an appointment and I said no. He was like aite I got you…but took two clients before me. Finally I said fukk it and left.

My barber has a small shop that he runs solo. I recognize most of his customers since I’ve been going for nearly 20 years. Since high school lol. I already know when my barber retires or passes away I’m gonna struggle to find a new spot. I like having an older Breh cut my hair. These young barbers don’t listen and seem like they’re just hustling.

Breh should have bounced within an hour and took his business elsewhere!

But, I do understand why he didn't want to become confrontational. It isn't worth it! Plus, the lasting you wanna do is get into it with someone who cuts your hair. Could end up in a bad situation!!

Hopefully, Breh will have back up barbers just in case the main one is booked up....
No confrontation needed. Should've just asked how long it would be til he got cut. That appointment shyt is 87% bs, they'll slide you in if you're tipping right.

I think he should always have back up barbers.

Also, if a barber isn't gonna honor appointments, then people should not do business with that person! I understand that it may be difficult to find good barbers sometimes, but if push comes to shove, then go to a barber college and get a hair cut.

Disgusting! First off, if you waiting like that, you a fool…

But we shouldn’t excuse poor service. My wife and I talk about this all the time. She gets pissed going to hair salons (when her usual is out of town or can’t do it) bc most (at least in our area) don’t wash clients hair before starting. They ask YOU to have your hair washed before they style it. My situations are similar, barbers being unprofessional. Had my boy cutting my hair but he took advantage, coming in late for appts we set up like yesterday…coming in smelling like a pound, constantly stopping and starting back, talking all day…

It’s like, just be professional. And I hate to say it, but it’s black folk that do this crap. We dog each other. I’ve learned that if the place doesn’t take appts then don’t go unless you cool with the barber/stylist. Partially why I started growing locs during the pandemic bc I swore that I wasn’t going into a shop again after my boy moved. If/when I have to go again I’m definitely going to the plaza where I get retwisted…they ONLY take appts and the rooms where they cut are only big enough for max, 3 people.

This ish for the birds man. Our “businesses” are so unprofessional sometimes…

Its happened to me once and never again. I only do appointment by online bookings now.

Why barbers who have walkins dont laminate 10-20 tags amd give them to their customers as they come in is beyond me.
Because barbers ain’t always professional. The order usually go two OGs, an up and comer that’s for real and one that’s slacking, then that guy that’s solid but he only in every other so and so lol. Sometimes barbers got favorites and shyt. Unorganization

Breh exaggerating he probably went there and the barber told him he had 3-4 appointments ahead of him. Dude said cool I got nothing to do I'll just wait it out. Little did he know the barber likes to talk alot and bullshyt and each cut took 40+ minutes
Exactly this. I made this mistake once but never again. If he says 2 or more in front of me I would just leave after that….now it’s strictly appointments

Exactly. Barbers low-key let you know when it's better to just go home and come back another day

Barber : "I got 5-6 heads of you" you want to wait?
