how can you afford to buy luxury drip?

I'm looking to improve my wardrobe, as I have realized that when it's time to dress up I don't have many quality pieces. I'm thinking about buying pieces from luxury consignments stores like TheRealReal, discount stores like Saks off 5th and Nordstrom Rack, gems from places like Marshall's etc.

I think I'd like to invest in my jeans more, I've found Balmain jeans in the $250 range so I think that would be a good start. There are also a vast array of designer suits and shoes like Louboutin Spikes on these consignments sites.

Any suggestions to attack this as far as responsibly improving the quality of my wardrobe?

You buy in pieces, not in bulk. Rather use that money on cars and too bulky now to dress like that anymore. I no longer buy expensive/luxury clothes but when I did, I would buy them in small pieces where every single piece of clothing was part of a collection of some sort. Mainly on jackets, shoes, some jeans/pants and some times sweaters. Do not bother spending 150-500 dollars on a tshirt, you only look stupid. Everything else is a waste to really spend large amount of money on or will no longer have resale value.
In your case I wouldn't even bother buying high-end unless you know it has some form of future value like jackets/shoes. Everything else can be found for brands that are a little more than average prices but 90% of the same quality.

Pierre Balmain is their cheaper brand

What brand or stores do you recommend?

I personally was thinking about buying pieces like a playboy x supreme soccer jersey, Pierre Balmain/Nudie jeans, designers suits etc. I think certain items are worth their prices (nudies, collab clothing) but I admit that most people probably won’t pay any mind and you could get the same look from cheaper brands. I would really be only buying pieces to compliment other parts of outfits, not designer from head to toe.

Do it for yourself :russ: I don't buy clothes or anything for other people amusement.
For me my go to sites were mrporter, barney's, ssense, antonioli, farfetch
Affordable side: asos, allsaints, bloomingdale
wait for sales, and closeout deals

Always buy what you can afford, there are plenty of brands that cost a fifth to tenth of many high end brands with 90% of the same quality and design factor. I would focus on finding those brands.

Pants are the least important luxury item if you wanna cop. It's usually top or shoes you should focus on. At least that's what I do. Got Valentino's on with Levi's and it's fine :yeshrug:
