I always thought it would have made more sense to cast a male who was in Issa Rae's range on an attractive scale, an attractive Georgetown computer engineer settling down with a subpar looking social worker in LA?

Wasn’t it implied that Lawrence was homeless and unemployed for most of their relationship?

As far as pure looks, the actor that plays Lawrence isn’t incredibly handsome but that’s just my opinion as a straight woman.

Issa still has a weird smile because of her large teeth that jut out but she’s looked very pretty lately.

Ironically enough, the relationship in this movie felt forced to me. She’s not a strong actress and faking love/attraction is a particular weak point for her.
