Copped it off the strong reviews (Never played 1 [outside of a demo I wasn't feeling] & 2)

Though it was a beautiful game, great challenges and I loved the setting.

But, I feel like the game was feeling itself too much & fell back too much on religious commentary.

I keep hearing about how dope Booker's & Elizabeth relationships is, throughout the game, but; it was okay.

I thought she was a sympathetic character (being locked up, being experimented on, abused, etc.), but, nothing too special...

Okay, Booker is really Comstock and he tried to get one version of himself, in one of the endless universes/tears, to kill himself before he turns into a murderous tyrant who experimented on his daughter (???? I remember Luctece saying Elizabeth/Anna wasn't his and Lady Comstock's)???

I thought the reveal that Elizabeth was his daughter, Anna, was cool, but, it fell flat after that.

 I didn't "get" it.

Maybe

I do feel like I had too high of expectations for it.

I just felt like they were building this complex story and kept with the vagueness, only to reveal something super simple.

And, like a poster said in an earlier thread, the character development, for Booker, could have been better.

That soundtrack, doe :to:

Will The Circle Be Unbroken (Choir Version) took a brotha' to church

There's nothing to "get". You're right. It's nothing special and it's just in love with itself. The gameplay is mediocre at best. The ending was overhyped to hell but really was standard sci-fi fare.

Most overrated game of last gen outside of MGS4 :yeshrug:
Another thing I want to add, and I was reading some of your posts in another thread, I even made sure I didn't blast through it

I was reading every sing, collecting the voice clips and watching all the silent movie joints

The strongest part of the story was making you want to stop Comstock

When I played this game I felt I was transported to another world. I just loved the whole introduction into the world. Riding up in that elevator to break through the clouds. Then you go through the beautiful church...the immersion is top I've ever experienced.

don't know how you can't appreciate it.

Booker can't remember who he was because he is existing in another universe with a version of himself...it's explained in in Burial at Sea 2. Elizabeth can't use tears for the or see the infinite possibilities anymore. by the time Booker figures it out it's too late...he is bum-rushed by a gang of Elizabeths who agreed to take out all version of him.

Yeah, those little distractions from the main story were he most interesting part of the game to me. But then they were few and far in between towards the end. And then the big battle at the end was just a pain because the gunplay is just meh. shyt was like....aiiiite this over yet?

Uh....nah. It's been a minute so bear with me but the Lucete's were the ones that put Booker on the mission to kill Comstock. They turned against him because they seen the alternate future where Comstock actually succeeded and waged war on the world....we see that for a second, with the older Elizabeth towards the end of the game, with the city burning behind her.

Again, my memory is kind of rusty but Lady Comstock thought Comstock was cheating on her with Rosalind Lucete, and that Elizabeth was their kid. She banished Elizabeth to the tower.

Rosalind was like :whoa: and explained where the kid came from....Lady Comstock was :camby: because it sounded crazy and threatened to expose that info. Comstock had her murked and framed Daisy Fitzroy.

Also another thing about Elizabeth, if you just run through the game quick fast she's not gonna seem like anything special. But if you explore, or hell even put down your controller/keyboard for a second Irrational added all kinds of shyt for her to interact with/comment on/respond to that most people won't see.

That's the thing; it became a chore after you try to "explore" and the interaction falls flat.

Again, I liked the story (and I'm loving just the little debates thecoli had over it), but, I was expecting more for all the praise the game got.

EDIT: They tried to make Elizabeth/Brooker to be on the level of Lee/Clementine (I'm still not over that ), which is, IMO, the best in-video game relationship I've ever played thru.

:to: Got me thinkin' 'bout the end of Season 1, now....

I thought Elizabeth was probably the best AI companion since Alyx from "Half Life 2". :manny:

The way the story is written they couldn't really define their relationship too much. They seem friendly but not too close....and if they got too close people would wonder "why aren't they flirting?"....and that would obviously be counterproductive if the reveal is that's his daughter.

Over all I thought the story was incredible. The story was better than the game itself IMO.

Of course, I still need time to digest.

It was a big backdrop to play on top of. I'm a Bible-Thumber (I love all my brehs, don't worry ), and wasn't troubled by all the religious commentary. I felt it was definitely real.

Not, "fair," but, I don't think it needed to be.

The game even took it to the line with the baptism scenes. But, I think it said something real about this country we live in. And how beliefs ppl sincerely have have been/can be used to justify a lot of evil.

It was definitely a mature plot that at some times was mishandled.

OH yea': Clem >>>>> Elizabeth

Maybe just in the fact that she didn't get in the way and helped out occasionally. She was a good character but nothing special IMO
