Can't Change My Damn Avi :beli:
I don’t understand why you think that would be better than a college student having a $2-$300 secured card in their own name. Becoming an authorized user on someone else’s account will probably be way more tempting to get into debt. A girl I know ran up 10k on her parents credit last year as an authorized user.I would say do not have a credit card while in college. It’s too easy to incur debt, while you already have student loans to fend with.
The easiest route for building credit is to be added to an existing account of someone else as an authorized user. This way your score goes up granted they have great credit to begin with. Once you graduate and have money then you can qualify for card with good terms in your own name.
I’m glad my mom made get one years ago, otherwise my avg age of credit would be nonexistent.
