ETF is futures. Basically a commodity. It's can't traded as a company as it's a good. (Gas, oil, wheat, a combination of fast food joints, Dow Jones, Russell 2000, etc. )

As for mutual funds, they are something you want to pay someone to do. It can be hard. You have to learn a lot of shyt and that shyt is a damn job i.e. money manager.

As for return, you need 5k at least to play with Futures. With mutual funds, you need an adviser/money manager.

An ETF makes for more flexible trading. A mutual fund can only be traded at the net asset value. :ld:

Wait, you're asking how much of a return you get after some years? If you're thinking long-term, go for a mutual fund... if you know how to manage it, that is. :whoa:

  • ETF follows an index and doesn't rely too much on the Mutual Fund invest style or the Mutual Fund investment strategy. If an index returns 5%, your ETF will give those returns because it just follows that index whether it is a bond, stock or commodity index.

  • Mutual Funds wins and loses by the talent of the fund manager, so the pay off can be higher if the fund manager is talented or it can have below average returns.

I personally like ETF, my favorite are the Index 500 which follows S & P 500, Russell 2000 which follows small-cap, and International Indexs has brought good returns.

Mutual Funds are good, but its more work to find a good one because you will have to do you research. And you will have to have a basic understanding of the market.
