Brehs, when & how did livemixtapes.com take over as the go-to mixtape site from Datpiff?

so all that man made mixtape bullshyt... i'm gonna be a dj tomorrow mixtape bullshyt... struggle rapper mixtape bullshyt... anybody and their mama can join up mixtape bullshyt.... is out the fukking window


if you look at an authentic release on both sites... the download numbers match

but if you want to get straight to quality releases, you go to livemixtapes

it's like having your video on youtube vs. having it on vevo... both do the same thing.. but one of them is a higher quality of the same damn thing, eliminating the bullshyt

like i said.. check the downloads of the same mixtape on both sites... they damn near the same and datpiff probably gonna have more



but if you ask any dj, artist, or somebody in the know, why they go with livemixtapes... it's for that very reason... they get straight to the official tapes and nothing less..


i learned from a young age from a top 3 mixtape dj during that dipset era..... presentation is EVERYTHING. if you hand a dude a cd, your cover work (and how much it looks like you paid for it) is the difference between the trash and the player... and that goes for everything down.. where you are when you are handing them out (industry party or local block).... how it sounds (at your house or in a prof. studio)... who made your beats (your mans or somebody famous)... features (same thing)... cd artwork (handwritten or burned in color)


for everyone else.... who cares right? like i said... vevo or youtube.. same content.. one is where the industry watches for talent... the other..... not so much

Presentation only matters wit marketin the mixtape ain't gonna be fire just cause the cover looks good its plenty trash mixtapes that had professional artwork and dope ones wit shytty covers, and many rappers that blew the last decade had beats either made in they house like Soulja Boy makin his beats in his closet or by they mans like Chief Keef that nikka Young Chop one of the best producers out right now and they ain't have a professional studio when they started.

Yeah Livemixtapes is the Vevo to Datpiff's Youtube but the "Youtube" in this analogy is better cause by Livemixtapes bein selective wit they shyt only gettin established rappers they excludin other mixtapes that have some "piff" you'll miss out on which Datpiff will have on their site, same is true for Vevo only havin industry cats on their site (they don't even have anythin other than music videos) while Youtube has everyone from big time artists to the soon to be up and comer you never heard of and even has regular videos tv shows and movies makin it far better.

Livemixtapes cuts out a lot of the bullshyt. Bottom line there are too many rappers right now. Somebody has to filter the shyt down. Like I said you can listen to every mixtape on Datpiff for the rest of your life and not even get close to running through their collection.

Datpiff honestly is way faster when it comes to downloading music, but they let anybody submit to the site.

Livemixtapes filtered out the bullshyt and actually makes sure you're worth something as an artist before you even get posted on their Indy site, let alone the main Livemixtapes site.

It's kinda nice to go the Livemixtapes front page and know everybody in there got some type of legitimate buzz or backing. Versus Datpiff where you'll see Mixtapes that were recorded in some college Internet rapper's dorm closet.

Nah, they actually do pay rappers to exclusively release they're stuff on their site. A couple artists have let it out the bag. Troy Ave has mentioned in interviews that they've offered him $20k-$30k. Check out some of his breakfast club interviews where he's mentioned it.

Livemixtapes has a better interface, dat piff tags are horrible and sometimes when you'd download stuff it'd be all mixed up. I mostly use Livemixtapes. Even have the app on my phone to download and stream music. I only use datpiff now if I want to hear something Livemixtapes doesn't have

Livemixtapes has better quality control, it costs like $300 to get placement on Livemixtapes, and you have to find someone with account access to upload your tape, which is usually like $300 or whatever, while any amateur rapper with low quality graphics and music can upload to Datpiff...

They definitely all pay. My boy that works w/ them said they paid Ross $20k for his last mixtape & made about $60k profit (allegedly). Thats why they have the timers reset over and over again when a mixtape dropping, so ppl keep going back and refreshing the page which gets them more ad money. And thats why when a mixtape does finally drop, they turn off the downloads, so again, you gonna go there and keep refreshing.

I clearly said industry people. This isn't the 90s where you can spit a hot rap and get signed (Cassidy, beans) or hand out a hot mixtape and get put on (papoose) or even have 1 hot video blow (Sunday girl, niykee heaton)

The industry ain't putting up that bread no more for that. They want to see you do it yourself, off your own dime, and look damn professional doing it. For a job interview it's a nice resume and a suit. You can be a genius and you come in with a shytty looking resume and a hoody, they throwing you out


Same with music. You want to present to a DJ or label, who probably gets hit up no less than 5k times a day with "listen to my music, I'm hot". Well you better damn well set yourself apart from every other person with an eye catching cover, on a industry site, with a hd video on an industry site, and hq music from reputable sources of production and engineering.

That's the game these days. You either get with it or keep pushing your free tapes to nobodies
