Employers in the 2000's went ham with this mentality.
Now it's biting them in the ass.
Americans workers finally understood that they were bring exploited and want off the hamster wheel.
It's no more complicated than that.
Yep basially until the middle of last year, why whole entire working life, I heard thats messaging

The notion of "people don't want to work" is some conservative take that lacks all critical thinking.

Unemployment benefits ended over a year ago, people aren't sitting at home with the unemployment checks from last year, even that wasn't enough to cake for a bit.

Just maybe, people aren't working a second or third job anymore since employers upped their pay to keep people. McDonald's around my way is starting at $16, Target at $19. No one wants to work at that dusty ass warehouse job or waiting tables with ungrateful customers anymore.

People that work at Target and McDonald's deal with ungrateful customers as well. Why do you think people would want to work at Target or McDonald's?

It's complicated, and it's not one single issue driving it. If you want a single simplified issue; Covid...Covid fukked everything up.

But it fukked up several things that were inevitably going to go bust anyway. Covid just sped them up and had them all hit simultaneously.

It's a societal issue and it's going to take societal solutions to fix it. Anyone saying otherwise doesn't know what they're talking about.
Best way to sum it all up
