Brehs who built their own PCs, how often do you have to troubleshoot problems?

building your own pc is the goat and it doesn't even cost alot of money, buy a part here and a part there, just swap out old with the new.

Years ago i bought a dell laptop and it died on me and dell wanted like 500 to fix it that was it. Never will I touch a laptop again

Once it's properly put together, things like driver issues/lagging will not be different from a pre-built pc.

rarely

one reason why i cant do laptops

Dude I got over the laptop hype quick once I experience more issues with them, than with desktop PCs. My first ever laptop got stolen, my second laptop had a heat issue, my third laptop (which was my baby) had a hinge issue and a hard drive issue.

Don't even get me started with my wife's laptops :snoop:.

Exactly. I had my baby for almost 3 and a half years and it's still holding it down. The one special thing about building your own PC is that it feels like your first car. The case is a bit beat up but never mind all of that...look at the stickers on the shyt. My glowing motherboard and the brand new GTX 1050 TI. I'm trying to tell heads that building your own PC is so rewarding its not even funny.

One thing about PCs that I've learned throughout my life, is the higher you go in specs (6-core chip, really fast ram, SLIing, etc.) the more problems you will face.

If you hate tinkering with shyt, then never buy the bleeding edge shyt. It is bound to fukk up, and you'll spend dozens of your hours trying to fix it.

Mid-range PCs seem to be the way to go, in terms of reliability. You won't get 5K, SLI, all Ultra, 60fp with a mid-range PC, but you'll get 1080p., all ultra, 60fps (and even some 1440p games if you so choose).

The crazier you go, the crazier it is to maintain. Just a tidbit I've learned through the years. It's like a fancy sports car. You get a lambo, and you know you gotta deal with problems, more so than an Accord:ld:

It's 2017. Building a PC is easier than ever.

if this were 1993, i'd say you'd have to have some skill... DIP switches, memory management (EPS and XMS memory anyone?), hard drive space, managing two operating systems (kids these days whould shyt themselves if they had to deal with MS DOS), IRQs, DMAs, COM ports, no online support, having to actually KNOW how to write a modem init string, no Plug n Play or USB, buying the right card for your bus type, etc.....

I really do have bad luck. :mjcry:

But whatever....the feeling you get when you fix it :ohlawd:

I'm currently rocking everything perfectly fine. (knock on wood).

But enthusiasts are expected to tinker with their shyt. You don't buy a pair of $1200 GPUs and a $600 CPU to fukking use stock shyt. The "high end" overclocks their shyt and tinkers it to perfection (which I almost have).

I just try to do the impossible, and it fukks up my shyt sometimes. But with every fukk up, I learn...:jbhmm:

Only problems I've had since I building mine have been with cables and shyt. Installed another SSD recently and unplugged some shyt in the process.

buy ram one month, buy a graphics card the next, a new mother board the next, swap in and out.

Never really.

In fact, I would arguing that trouble shooting a brand name PC is more of a headache due to the more proprietary nature of the machine itself.

When you build a machine, every component is a self-contained part. It was built to be put into any machine and operate under any configuration that you desire.

What this means is that if a harddrive dies, its just the harddrive that dies and you don't need to maybe get a new manufacturer image to reinstall with your new hard drive and make sure that its compatible with their specific configuration for your PC. I would say this scenario is probably also rarely a problem too, but this is an example of why self-built machines may actually be less of a head ache in the future after its in use.

Hope this made sense.
