There are suburbs in Jersey, across the river from Manhattan, that are far more urban than parts of Houston-proper or LA.
This what I meant about Houston...this is River Oaks, a neighborhood within Houston (not a suburb) and it has the winding, non-grid streets with mansions and big ass yards:

I lived in HTX during Covid and it took me a min to grasp that these areas are still well within Houston's city limits and weren't bordering suburbs.

Houston has it's own vibe with hella gated communities within the city which I'd never seen before outside of suburbs.

@Bigwhite2498 ain't this what your dads house look like?

Was born in the burbs then moved to the hood when I was 12.

BACKWARDS af... I know. And I caught hell for it. Imagine a short (usually the shortest), dorky looking breh, who grew up around mostly white people, then moving to one of the worst cities/neighborhoods in the country in middle school of all times.

I grew up fast, for multiple reasons...

I lived in the suburbs from ages 13-18 in a small town in TN. It was very quiet….and lil racist. When we moved there an old white man moved out because he thought we were going to lower his property value. Same white man had multiple junk cars in his yard.
