That album cover is suppose to represent Prince's submission to god--his nudity is symbolic of Prince coming to god clean of sin, kind of like how Adam and Eve were before they ate the apple. It's not gay at all.

The 80s has this creeped out retro techno vibe too it. Some of that shyt doesn't even seem real looking back. Very plastic vibe. The whole decade looks like one big TV show. The electronics had this unsettling yet addictive smell. Just strange all around.
