I know a woman, she and the guy got divorced when their daughter was 4 and son was 2. They haven't remarried, but he got a house on the same block as her house so he can be close to his kids. It's been 15 years and he still takes his son out all the time, goes on father-son vacations, they still do holidays as a family, etc. Both of them have long-term SO and so they do shyt with the four of them and the kids.

That's the only way I can imagine doing it. I just can't imagine giving up on my kids and staying out of their lives like that.

I didn't say it would work for everyone, but it's the only way I can imagine it working for me. I'm not going to leave my little girl's life. If the same block is too close then I would still find a place where it would be easy to see her every day and for her to easily find me whenever she needed to.

My son lives with me so I can't relate.

There are some single mothers out there that have fully active, responsible fathers in their childrens lives.

I havent been with their father for over 3 years and they have never had a man Iv been dating in thier home, having sleep overs in their personal space. They met 1 man that I dated for a year without even knowing we were dating.
And on thier fathers end the only partner they have met from him is the mother to their older siblings.
