Brehs with Dreads, how many times a year do yall retwist?

ive had my locs for 2.5 yrs. so Ive been way past the ugky stage. I think on average I get my locs retwisted n braided every 2 months .

I got thick ass hair so once my fresh retwist is finished after about 2 weeks and I wash my hair my shyt looks like a lion's mane.

Idk how brehs keep their locs freshly done 24/7.

It takes atleast 3hrs for my hair to be retwisted and braided. Then gotta drive to the barbershop for a shapeup

Tips for no hairline nikkas with locs:

I only shape up my beard when it gets to messy. I let my barber shapeup the hairline and beard when I get a retwist. Stop gettin shapeuos every week and space em to every 8 weeks

I got dreads but im about to cut em im honestly tired of waiting for these shyts to get longer and I just want to be able to get a shape up every other week instead of spending like 50 dollars for a retwist then gotta get a haircut on top of that

Some locticians are reasonable with the prices but some be steady try to finesse. I try to stay away from the hotep stylists as well, it's been 4 years now ​

4 to 5 times a year, I hate most of the retwist process honestly and the look.

I retwist every 6-8 weeks but touch up the first front rows every other week. I'll spray spritz on them, separate the parts, loop (not retwist) the loose hair, and clip them until they air dry. Thats how I've been doing it since I dropped my loctician 2 years ago. I always step out looking +1.

I don't retwist, never have. However I definitely crochet and latch/hook my shyt if the new growth gets too bad. I like my shyt to not look so refined with the grease and retwist stuff. I usually start by wrapping the loose hairs around the base and then crochet them through the locs and then I interlock if needed

Might have to look into crochet method or get some clips.

Question for y'all that interlock, I've had dreads for like 2 years now but my locs in the front stick up instead of falling naturally in front of my face. Can interlocking make my dreads less stiff?
