The thing is, those who read more than just the initial headlines on this realize the investigation was reopened not because they found something damning but because there was the possibility from huma sharing a machine with wiener that some emails that were missed are on the machine. They didn't even verify if they were new emails.

However, the ultimate truth never matters here, it's what gets reported first. Like they say, "A lie can make it around the world before the truth even get its pants on". Once a collective perception and narrative is fed, corrections and clarifications get lost in the dust.

Given how close we are to the election, the truth by Tuesday will only start running.
