No way Bret could be called a “top tier midcarder”. Bret was over as fukk in the 90s. Vince kept wanting to make another Hogan. Bret got the belt bc the people chose him. He wasn’t Hogan or Austin but just look at 97. He main evented Summerslam and Survivor Series that year which both had more ppv buys than Mania. If Bret or Taker weren’t on the card they were not selling tickets for a few years there.
