I recall Bret saying the iron man match wasn't as good as it could've been and it wasn't his best match a few years back.

Best in ring performer is not the problem. Anyone who doesn't give him his just due as a performer is just hating. The issue with most people was his attitude at the time. Bret has always given Shawn props for his in ring talent.

I'm a Michaels mark, and I think the match is rather meh tbh, both men have 100s of better matches

Gotta remember that it's a different view from the standpoint of a wrestler. Bret talks about how him and Shawn chatted a bit, yet managed to remember every spot for an hour. They came in to the last 5 minutes right on schedule in terms of planning. They were both semi shooting so it was very intense. He's proud of it from his own work rate standpoint.

Those are things that fans don't know/care about, but I could see him taking pride in it. Same with having to call of summerslam 92 to Davey Boy. That makes the match special to him in a way that fans can't relate to.

But yeah, from fans perspective I think WM 13 is better by a mile than WM 12.
