The only movies directed by him I've ever seen are Scarface and Carlito's Way

I've seen parts of Carrie but never the whole movie

What are his best movies?

And is his documentary "De Palma" any good?

Blowout was very good. Untouchables was good too.

Obsession is a 70s remake of sorts to Hitchcock’s Vertigo, but takes a different turn.

Gang violence...
domino
mission impossible
casualties of war
the untouchables
scarface
blow out
dressed to kill
carrie
murder a la mod

i have seen all of these and they were all at least good, some great

blow out is his greatest movie, in my humble opinion, and of course carrie and scarface represent some of the most iconic movies in their respective genres. domino is really underrated. he is well beyond just being a good filmmaker

Body Double is my favorite, besides the obvious choices (Scarface, Carlito's Way), it is his and maybe the best best reworking of Hitchcock (Rear Window & Vertigo), besides "What Lies Beneath", which is a toss up. Sexy, stylish, funny, totally LA movie with great set pieces, and a great tracking shot from Rodeo Drive to Long Beach hotel. A beautiful and menacing house in the Hollywood Hills. It's pure fun from start to finish.

The Untouchables is cheesy at times but a classic.

De Palma was also one of the directors that convinced Scorsese not to commit murder lol
