Bringing a girl to wedding

Alright brehs and breezys, I'm a long time listener, first time caller

To make a long story short, a girl I know from college invited me to come on a cruise in May. It was me, her, another girl and another guy. We went, had an amazing time, and for pretty much the whole cruise I was catching serious "I want you" vibes from this chick

Problem is, she lives 3+ hours away, and has a tendency to act "guarded" when somebody is getting close to her. This pretty much killed the "this could be something" momentum from the cruise.

Fast forward, my friend's sister is getting married in october and I really want to ask this girl to be my date... or rather "accompany me to the wedding"

Is that weird? are we not close enough? or can i use the wedding date as an opportunity to finally see if theres something behind all the good vibes

Not sure if bringing a girl to a wedding is still considered a really serious move, or if theres a more casual connotation these days.

Dunno if asking her will get the or a ... figured TLR can point me in the right direction.

FYI., I am casually dating another girl right now, who is my back-up, and i'm sure she would be happy to go if i asked. but cruise girl is my first choice

Additionally, if you haven't hit her before, bringing her to a wedding may make things a hella embarrassing if she doesn't succumb to your advances, or dances with another guy "for fun" at the wedding, and weddings are there to be enjoyed, meet new people and eat and drink.

So don't bring her, enjoy it with your homies, then take her out the next day and tell her great it was, etc. If you're lucky she'll say: "Ohh I wish I could have come!"
