This chick asked me to a wedding "reception" 2-3 weeks after me knowing her. I don't think it's that serious, just be open with people who ask.

Overnight holidays or vacations with the family are when it gets serious. I wouldn't bring someone who isn't your lady to Thanksgiving.

Sounds like you like here more than you letting on if you asking this but maybe you're just genuinely curious. Don't take her to the wedding. Use her as an excuse to leave the reception.

I do like her. Tbh I was confident things were gonna pop off after the cruise this summer. but she's not very outward with her emotions and the distance sucks. so it's just a bunch of inertia right now.

Inviting her to the wedding would be my way of saying "hey i'm interested, let's spend a little time together", something that would be just me and her, not a group.

problem is since we aren't really at that point yet, inviting her to a wedding might be seen as a this huge step when in reality i'm just trying to push this forward a little bit

Well if you aren't in the wedding party, I don't think it's that big of a deal. I've gone on plenty of dates to weddings. Never got on with my date, though. If you like her, you'll do yourself and favor and feast at that wedding flying solo.
