Not to sound insensitive but what's the difference between her and the avg Joe/Jane who can't muster the strength to carry on and feel like the weight of the world has broken them and commit suicide?? Anyone else does this and they're called selfish and/or coward??

I guess you didn't read the article

kind of a lame topic to troll...

might have something to do with her having a degenerating disease with no cure.

Nothing wrong with death all people should embrace it.
not trolling at all. just asked a question I was seriously wondering about
well you do sound insensitive if your brain cannot sympathize with someone who has terminal, inoperable brain cancer and decides to end their life on their own terms before cancer completely ravages their body and soul.
Who says I couldn't sympathize? Again, stop putting the way you think I should think into the conversation and try giving an honest answer to the question asked.

You're a moron.

I did and I also knew about this story before I blew up into what it was. Again, no one is answering the question. Only reason I ask is because I know mad folks who suffer from depression. Like, fukks with their social life, stay at home with black out curtains closed, affecting their health depression. Some of these folks have attempted suicide. Others have succeeded in committing suicide. On top of the sadness, there was a lot of "how selfish could they be", "what about the ones they left behind", etc & etc....If we're going to extend this sympathy, let's extend it all the way was what I was trying to get at.

I don't think it's selfish to commit suicide. I don't think it should be illegal.
There is a difference between a 17 year old killing themselves because some girl didn't respond to him on facebook vs someone with a terminal illness not wanting to suffer. One at least to me is a mistake made by someone suffering what amounts to a superficial hurt vs one suffering from a debilitating disease. Both deserve sympathy but for different reasons.

Very inspirational. She's my hero.

She has opened up the country and world to a very a taboo subject in the US which could lead to laws being implemented to help people in her situation.
She made the choice that was right for her, it's not about selfish or not selfish. Suicide is just a label grounded in religion. I'm not sure but I would want the ability to. We all need to die.

R.I.P. Brittany Maynard

I agree, nobody should have to suffer.

Im not saying she was wrong in her decision due to the circumstances. You seem to be hung up on that fact as justification. No one has that right to play God.

There is a God? Or do you just believe that?

She'll be aight.. :yeshrug:

I completely understand y she did it. I dont have any sympathy and shes not a hero, lol... because... I mean, shes relieved..... while billions of people are not relieved of whats bothering or affecting them.

Lol at her Being a hero. She wouldn't give a fukk if I died and she wouldn't run into a fire to save my sons more than likely. I'll defend these peoples right to Murk themselves... but lets not get carried away about this broad.:camby:

There's not. Depression is a very serious disease in itself.

On the surface you make a point, but you took one extreme and threw it up against a reality. There are instances yes of teens committing suicide because of stuff like that, but often that's not really the issue. That may have been the trigger, but the kid could have depression problems etc. Again i see what you're getting at, but that's a bit of a strawman

couldn't agree more.

The point was to make the point, not discount the myriad of situations that people commit suicide over. The point stands for depressed people as well. I don't blame them, I don't consider them selfish and I sympathize with them for the choice they believed they had to make.

In other words am having a real hard time thinking of a situation where I wonder consider the person who committed suicide: selfish, vile, unworthy of sympathy, evil, open for me to judge.

That's all i'm saying.

Yeah i get the point of what you were saying. Far too many people pass judgment over suicide. Just like a poster said earlier, its mostly rooted in religious taboo. At the end of the day, if you're suffering, be it depression, cancer etc etc....its your choice to make. I just find it funny that people will look up to Brittany as a hero, but the regular joe with chronic depression is labeled as a coward or selfish.

People play God every day by euthanizing animals to prevent further suffering.
